We are currently looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer for one of our medical devices clients, available to start immediately or by latest 01. February 2025.

Your new Job:

The Mechanical Design Engineer is a senior-level professional with significant experience, capable of acting as a lead designer on projects with a high degree of independence. This role demands navigating complex and uncertain environments to devise optimal solutions that balance multiple requirements.




Key Tasks & Responsibilities

  1. Concept Development:

    • Conduct studies and develop mechanical concepts for new products and hearing instrument systems.
    • Provide technical assessments of industrial design feasibility and realization of new components/systems, including design for manufacturability (DFM).
  2. Documentation and Analysis:

    • Generate design documents and contribute to failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA) processes.
    • Perform analysis and assessments of competitive products.
    • Create and maintain technical documentation like datasheets.
  3. Industrialization and Supplier Coordination:

    • Support the industrialization of platform components.
    • Maintain technical communication with tool and part suppliers.
  4. Testing and Verification:

    • Support reliability verification processes for components and assemblies.
    • Assist PLE activities related to quality issues and continuous improvement of hardware integration.
  5. Interdisciplinary Collaboration:

    • Contribute to interdisciplinary agile development teams and participate in team rituals.
    • Engage in the R&D development process through planning, review, and refinement of product increments.
  6. Compliance:

    • Adhere to standard operating procedures and maintain compliance with medical device regulations.



Qualifications

Education (Must-Have):

  • Apprenticeship in mechanical design or similar technical background.
  • Advanced Technical College (HF) certification, specializing in plastics technology or related field.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a science or engineering discipline.

Education (Nice-to-Have):

  • Higher-level science or engineering degree.
  • Specialization in medical device technology.

Work Experience (Must-Have):

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in mechanical engineering and product development.
  • Expertise in designing plastic parts and electro-mechanical devices.

Work Experience (Nice-to-Have):

  • Basic knowledge of medical device regulations.
  • Experience managing R&D projects.

Technical Competencies:

  • Strong proficiency in mechanical engineering principles.
  • Advanced 3D-CAD knowledge (e.g., PTC Creo/Windchill).
  • Experience in micro-mechanics, including plastics, rubber, and metal components.
  • Familiarity with simulation tools like FEM and Moldflow.

IT Skills:

  • Proficient in Windows and MS Office applications.
  • Experience with collaboration tools such as Confluence and MS Teams.

Language Skills:

  • Proficient in English or German (both oral and written).

Start Date: Immediately or by latest 01. February 2025

Hybrid: 80% onsite required, 20% Work from home

Duration: 14 Months until end of March 2026
