Overview of contract

On behalf of our client, a large bank in Switzerland, we are looking for an Application Operations Manager.

Location: Zurich

Start date: Immediately

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate and maintain Global Data Platform components (VM Servers, Kubernetes, Kafka).
• Administer and support applications such as Apache stack, Collibra, Dataiku, and similar tools.
• Manage VM setup, scaling, Kubernetes (K8S) orchestration, and Docker containerization (including Harbor registry).
• Ensure high availability and performance of distributed storage systems (S3, HDFS).
• Provide support and implementation for Collibra API/Services.
• Perform system administration tasks (user management, access control).
• Configure and maintain Collibra Edge servers.
• Participate in CI/CD pipeline integration (automated builds, testing, deployment).
• Define and optimize development, test, release, update, and support processes for DevOps.
• Collaborate with development teams to push container images via CI/CD pipelines.
• Maintain technical documentation (solution design, security concepts, blueprints).
• Ensure compliance with security best practices in infrastructure and application management.
• Conduct incident management, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis (RCA).
• Monitor system performance, customer experience, and KPIs.

Required Experience and Skills:

• 5+ years of experience in cluster environment operations (Kubernetes, distributed storage).
• Strong background in Unix/Linux system administration.
• Experience with complex data environments (data integration, consumption, MDM/data catalog).
• Advanced scripting skills (Bash, Python).
• Hands-on experience with APIs/Web services.
• Knowledge of VM scaling, K8S orchestration, and Docker management.
• Financial industry experience is a plus.
• DevOps certifications (on-prem/cloud).
• Unix/Linux administration certifications.

• Fluent in English, German is a plus.
